I’ve only played for an hour, but I think I’ll enjoy Little Nightmares 3. The basic premise is the same. These games are cinematic platformers that combine the thrill of Inside Out and Limbo with a surreal, almost Tim Burtonesque vision of horror. They don’t offer mechanical innovations. The series’ strength lies in its atmosphere and visual appeal, and based on what I’ve seen in Little Nightmares 3, I don’t think that will change. However, some radical changes have been made.

Tarsier Studios didn’t develop this third installment. The project was unexpectedly handed over to Super Massive Games. While Super Massive specializes in cinematic horror, many agree that Until Dawn and Little Nightmares have very little in common. Little Nightmares 3: Super Massive cleverly avoids reinventing the wheel, introducing a major innovation in two-player co-op gameplay mechanics. Whether you play alone or with a friend, Little Nightmares 3 features two main characters: Alone with her hooked face and wrench, and Lou dressed as a clown and armed with a bow and arrows.
