As expected from a Dragon Ball game, Sparking! Zero features a huge array of awesome special attacks taken directly from the anime. When you have enough health, you can attack by pressing the trigger and move buttons simultaneously. This will charge a powerful Kamehameha attack or activate a cinematic combo. Special attacks require a full health recharge, typically consume several health bars, activate light effects, and recite a chant for about thirty seconds.
Using all these attacks is incredibly satisfying, but it does require recharging your health. It requires standing still and shouting while surrounded by a powerful and familiar aura, which isn’t easy in such a fast-paced fighting game. Even if both players want to use them, there will be times when they gather their strength and stare at each other, creating an awkward atmosphere. There are many ways to play Dragon Ball: Sparking! ranging from the Zero Story Mode, which covers almost every aspect of the series from its origins to the present day, to online battles.
